What are the necessary documents to open an account?

In Person

  • Valid Identification Document:​
    • Portuguese Citizen Card;​
    • Portuguese Residence Card issued with a validity of more than 12 months;
    • Passport/Identity Card (only accepted if European citizen, Schengen Area or United Kingdom nationality)​.
  • Valid Tax Identification Number (TIN):​​​

What is the Access Code?

The Access Code is a code composed by 7 digits that allows access to the App, website, Automatic Service and Support Line services, making it possible to perform transactions in every account the Client has.

Clients should not have an Access Code that can be easily memorized by others and must change it periodically on our website activobank.pt in Setup.

Activobank.pt will never request, at any time and at the same time, more than 3 digits of your Multichannel Access Code. Any request in that sense should be considered fraud and must be immediately reported to: 210 030 700.

How can I include another holder to my account?

To include holders in your Current Account, you must both go to one of our Branches and take with you the following documents:

Identification Documents:

  • Identification Document (valid) - Portuguese Identification Document or Residency authorization or Passport or National Identity Card.
  • NIF (Tax Identification Number) (valid) - Portuguese Identification Document or NIF Card or Tax Payer’s central registration.
  • Abroad: Taxes liquidation issued by the fiscal authority of the country of residency or Document issued by the consulate.

National: Drivers License or Tax reimbursement statement or Water/electricity/gas bill

Abroad: Taxes liquidation issued by the fiscal authority of the country of residency or Document issued by the consulate.

Proof of employment situation (3 months validity):

  • Employee: Pay slip or Employment proof or Work contract.

The opening of an Account is conditioned to the Client’s admission by the Bank, in accordance with its Customer Acceptance Policy. Minimum initial deposit of €500 to open an Account in an ActivoBank Branch and, if you open an Account online, you must transfer €100 from an Account you hold. The minimum initial deposit of €100 also applies to the opening of Salary Accounts, Student Accounts, and Accounts opened through worksite actions. This amount is Account balance and is entirely at the Client's disposal.

1 - Salary Domiciliation Campaign: See the regulations here.
Campaign valid from 1/6 to 31/8/2023. To access the campaign, you only need to meet the following cumulative requirements: be over 18 years old; domicile a salary of €900 net or more for 2 consecutive months, with the first Credit occurring between 1/06 and 30/09/2023 (campaign period); not have a salary domiciled in any Account where you are the primary Account holder between 01/07/2022 and 31/05/2023; have a Credit Card associated with the current Account where the salary will be domiciled, and where the offer will be Credited; request access to the campaign by clicking on the banner provided after logging into the ActivoBank App, in the "For You" menu, within 30 consecutive days after it becomes available. Salary domiciliation is considered the monthly Credit received regularly via bank transfer, properly coded at the source with the ISO code "SALA" or "PENS," "08" or "11". Minors under 18 years old and Clients with incidents are excluded.

2 - The €100 Credit will be made in the following month after fulfilling all eligibility criteria, to the Card Account of the primary Account holder associated with the current Account where the salary was domiciled. Credited amounts are subject to a 28% withholding tax at source, which is liberatory in nature unless the option for aggregation is chosen. No Credits will be made for Card Accounts that are in default or without any active Cards.
Requires a minimum 12-month commitment to Salary Domiciliation with monthly control. If you no longer receive a salary, a proportional amount for the period between the last domiciliation and the end of the 12 months will be debited from your Credit Card, at a rate of €12.5 per month.
Account opening is subject to the bank's acceptance of the Client, in accordance with its Customer Acceptance Policy. Minimum initial deposit of €500 (€100 for students, salary domiciliation, worksite protocols, and opening via video call, or €0 for opening through mobile digital key). In the case of onlineAccount opening, the first transaction must be a bank transfer. This amount is the Account balance and is entirely at the Client's disposal.

3 - Cartão de Crédito Classic

AB GOLD Credit Card
TAEG 15,6%
| TAN 15,6% for a Credit limit of €1,500, paid in 12 equal monthly installments of capital plus interest and charges. Credit Card issuance fee of €35.88 (monthly payment of €2.99). Stamp Duty applies. Subject to Credit risk analysis.

4 - New Clients AB Deposit exclusive for Clients who opened a current Account in the last 180 days prior to deposit creation. Minimum deposit: 2.500€. Maximum amount per deposit: 100.000€. Term: 180 days. Early partial or total withdrawal is possible at any time during the term of the fixed-term deposit, with a penalty of 100% applied to the accrued and unpaid interest on the mobilized amount for the respective period. This deposit does not allow additional deposits.

6 - Conditions of access: Clients who subscribe to the product within 30 days of opening the Account, are over 18 years of age and emancipated. Clients with incidents in Banco de Portugal are exempt.
The subscription of the AB Plus Plan between 15/7/2023 and 15/1/2024 exempts you, for a period of 3 months from the date of subscription (month of subscription and the following two months), from paying the Package Account Maintenance Fee of 3,99€, plus Stamp Duty at the legal rate (currently 4%). After this period, the fee will be debited from the respective Current Account.
