What are the necessary documents to open an account?

Opening an Account in person

    In order to open an Account in some Activobank Branches, you will need to schedule your visit through the Support Line.

  • Valid Identification Document (one of the following documents):​
    • Portuguese Citizen Card (if Clients are students, retired, employees or unemployed, they don’t need any other document to open an Account at an Activobank Branch);​
    • Portuguese Residence Card issued with a validity of more than 12 months;
    • Passport/Identity Card (only accepted if you are a citizen of Europe, the Schengen Area or the United Kingdom)​.
  • Valid Tax Identification Number (TIN), one of the following documents: ​​
    • Portuguese Citizen Card;​
    • TIN Card;
    • Tax Payer’s central registration​. ​
  • Proof of address dated less than 12 months* (one of the following documents):​
    • Drivers License;​
    • Tax reimbursement statement;​
    • Utilities bill;
    • Taxes liquidation issued by the fiscal authority of the country of residency;
    • Document issued by the consulate.​
  • If the Client is a minor, proof of address of parents/legal representatives must be presented​.
  • *Persons under 30 years of age must provide proof of parental address (dated less than 12 months).
  • Proof of employment situation with 6 months validity (one of the following documents):
    • Employee: pay slip or work contract; ​​
    • Independent worker: "Green receipts", start/change of economic activity statement (available in Portal das Finanças), company registration or commercial registry certificate;
    • Unemployed: Declaration from the Employment Center;
    • Student: Student ID, enrolment proof or payment of tuition fees (can be provided up to 12 months after completion of degree or training); ​​
    • Domestic: IRS Template 3 or Bank statement;
    • Lives off their own assets: IRS Template 3 or Bank statement;
    • Retired: IRS Template 3 or Bank statement or pay slip.

Opening an Account via video call

  • Valid Identification Document (one of the following documents):
    • Portuguese Citizen Card; ​
    • Portuguese Residence Card issued after December 2008 and with a validity of more than 12 months;
    • Passports from these European countries: Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Netherlands and United Kingdom.
  • Valid Tax Identification Number (TIN), one of the following documents: ​​
    • Portuguese Citizen Card;​ ​
    • Portuguese Residence Card;
    • TIN Card;
    • Tax Payer’s central registration​.
  • Proof of address dated less than 12 months (one of the following documents):​

Opening an Account with Mobile Digital Key

    You don't need to have any documents with you, you only need the Mobile Digital Key.​

  • If you already have the Digital Mobile Key, you just need to:​
    • Download the ActivoBank App​
    • Log in with your Mobile Digital Key​
    • Confirm some data​
    • Sign the contracts (everything digital, no paperwork)​
    • Register in the App​
  • If you don't have the Mobile Digital Key:​
    • Download the Autenticação.gov App​
    • Take a picture of your Citizen Card and another of yourself (selfie)​

What are the Costs of an Account with ActivoBank?

Accounts in ActivoBank have no maintenance fee. The Bank may change the amount and/or the fees and expenses applicable, which will be published in the Price List.

What is the Access Code?

The Access Code is a 7-digit code that gives you access to the Support Line, the automated reply, the Website and the App, so that you can validate your transactions on all your Accounts.

For security reasons, access codes should be personal, non-transferable and changed regularly. You can do this quickly and easily on the Website.

ActivoBank never asks for more than 3 digits of the access code in any situation and at the same time, which means that any such request should be considered fraudulent and should be reported on +351 210 030 700 or by e-mail to fraude@activobank.pt.

Where can I find the IBAN/NIB proof?

Login to activobank.pt and go to More Operations > Account information. You can also do it on the App, Current Account > See Details > Details.

How do I make cash deposits in my Account?

The deposits of notes, coins and/or checks, in ActivoBank Accounts, can be made at Millennium BCP Branches and/or Millennium BCP machines for deposits, indicating your Account number.

How can I open an Account with more holders?

They will have to go simultaneously to a Ponto Activo and bring the necessary proofs:

Identification Documents:
  • Identification Document (valid) - Portuguese Identification Document or Residency authorization or Passport or National Identity Card.
  • NIF (Tax Identification Number) (valid) - Portuguese Identification Document or NIF Card or Tax Payer’s central registration.
Proof of address (12 months):
  • National: Drivers License or Tax reimbursement statement or Water/electricity/gas bill
  • Abroad: Taxes liquidation issued by the fiscal authority of the country of residency or Document issued by the consulate.
Proof of employment situation (6 months validity):
  • Employee: Pay slip or Employment proof or Work contract.
  • Independent worker: "Green receipts"or Start of economic activity statement or Declaration from the Client supported by a card issued by the repective professional entity.
  • Self-employed: Commercial Registry certificate or Company Registration.
  • Unemployed: Unemployment statement (Employment Center enrolment) or Economic Situation Proof, issued by the Town Council for unemployed people that are not enroled in the Employment Center.
  • Student: Student ID or Enrolment proof or University attendance certificate.

How do I get the Digital Mobile Key?

Any citizen can request the activation of their Digital Mobile Key. The Digital Mobile Key can be activated when you collect your Citizen Card. The request for activation of the Digital Mobile Key can be made online, by visiting http://www.autenticacao.gov.pt/cmd-pedido-chave with the Citizen Card or with the access data to the Finance Portal, or in person at one of the service counters.

How to open an Account online with Digital Mobile Key?​

Opening an Account online with Digital Mobile Key is only available via the App on a smartphone. You only need to authenticate with your Digital Mobile Key, an authentication method certified by the Portuguese State. It’s useful because it immediately gives us some of the information we need. This makes it much easier to open an Account online. ​
